GTA Online Independence Day Event Begins — A Free Lago Zancudo Bunker and Rockstar's “Biggest Ever” Sale

In GTA Online, an event commemorating Independence Day began on July 2. The highlights are a free Lago Zancudo Bunker — a property normally worth over GTA$1M — and a large-scale sale that Rockstar calls its “biggest ever.” Much of the free content and the sale run through July 13. GTA6 FEED has summarized what's on offer and what to keep an eye on.

This article is based on information as of July 2, 2026.

What You Can Get for Free

This event is especially generous with items you can receive for free.

  • Lago Zancudo Bunker: You can claim it for free from Maze Bank Foreclosures (through July 13). Normally a property worth over GTA$1M, once claimed it becomes a permanent asset of yours. On top of that, bunker modifications and upgrades are 40% off.
  • A high-end garage is also available for free.
  • A firework launcher (Gun Van) and a musket (Ammu-Nation) are free. Log in and you'll also receive an Independence Day–themed bucket hat.
  • In Business Battles, you can obtain limited-time cosmetics such as various beer hats and a Statue of Happiness T-shirt.

Reward Boosts and Bonuses

There are also plenty of money-making opportunities. It's a good week to stockpile GTA$ ahead of The Kortz Center Heist coming later this month.

  • Bunker Sell Missions pay double rewards (GTA$ and RP). Bonuses also apply to bunker and gunrunning-related missions.
  • Stunt Races pay triple rewards. Modes such as Running Back (Remix) are featured.
  • For weekly challenges: from July 2–8, complete three Bunker Research missions for GTA$100K and the Blue Jock Cranley Jumpsuit. From the 9th–13th, win two races for the same reward.

An Independence Day Community Series

A special Independence Day–themed Community Series is also running. It features community-made missions and modes — rally races, Western-style quick-draw duels, musket deathmatches, and more — and playing these earns double GTA$ and RP. This too runs through July 13. Since it overlaps with the free bunker and the sale, it's also a reason to enjoy some out-of-the-ordinary modes while you're earning cash.

The “Biggest Ever” Sale

The scale of the sale is large too. A wide range — aircraft, special and weaponized vehicles, properties, and more — is heavily discounted. Independence Day clothing, liveries, parachute smoke, and face paint are 40% off, while the Stars-and-Stripes Sovereign bike and the Liberator monster truck are 50% off. The official promotional image also shows numerous headline vehicles and aircraft with discounts ranging from hundreds of thousands to millions of GTA$.

GTA+ members get further perks. Exclusive Independence Day clothing, a free Ocelot Stromberg, Chameleon Paints, and GTA$2M off a Mansion are among the offerings.

Should You Grab the Free Bunker?

To get straight to the point: if you don't own a bunker yet, you should claim this free Lago Zancudo. Not only does a property normally worth over GTA$1M become free, but it also serves as the foundation for one of GTA Online's premier long-term businesses — gunrunning, passive income that accrues even while idle, and Mk II weapon research. Rather than just a free building, it's closer to gaining an entire revenue-generating system.

One caveat, though: if you already own the Chumash or Farmhouse bunker, there's no need to force a switch. These two have short delivery routes and are considered advantageous for sell-mission efficiency. Because of its location, Lago Zancudo takes longer for some sell missions, so in terms of priority it sits in the middle. That said, it remains “a GTA$1M-plus property you can get for free,” so if you don't own one, make sure to claim it before the July 13 deadline.

A Note: GTA Online This Month

This event is also part of the lead-up to The Kortz Center Heist, a new update scheduled to release during July. Running in parallel is the Fine Art Collector Program (log in to receive GTA$500K, a free vehicle, and more), which continues through July 13.

While GTA6 pre-orders are a big topic, GTA Online keeps up its weekly updates. This Independence Day week — with free properties and items and reward boosts all stacking together — is one of the most rewarding stretches in recent weeks.
